August 5, my new website www.hobbithunterbooksop.com went “on the air”. On this site I sell my many double copies of books by and on Tolkien (far more than 1.000).

And, guess what? In two weeks I got some 300 unique visitors from 28 countries all over the world. Well, that was a great start!
And …. already 26 books by and on Tolkien were bought by buyers from the USA, England, Ireland, France, Italy and The Netherlands. That also is great!

Boekenmarkt Leeuwarden

Op zaterdag 24 september staat de kraam van HOBBITHUNTER BOOKSHOP op de jaarlijkse boekenmarkt in Leeuwarden.
Het is de 20e editie, locatie: Lange Pijp en Nieuwestad (centrum) – aanvang 10.00 u, einde 17.00u.

Zo’n 80 kramen met allerlei specialismen. Ik sta er uiteraard met veel boeken van en over Tolkien.

New and yet not new

A new Hobbit and yet no new Hobbit. Only the cover is new.

The book itself is the Centenary (1892 – 1992) version, published in 1991 by Grafton, ISBN 0 261 10221 4.
Dutch firm ASTRA Pharmaceutica B.V. gave the book away as a relation’s gift.

Zondag 26 juni 2011 wordt in Steenwijk weer de jaarlijkse boekenmarkt gehouden. De organisatoren rekenen zichzelf tot één van de (mooi Nederlands woord) gezelligste boekenmarkten van Nederland. Meer dan 80 kramen op de Markt in het centrum van Steenwijk.

Geen ramsj, geen bulkpartijen, de organisatoren willen de kwaliteit van de markt graag hoog houden.

Op kraamnummer 80 vindt u mijn eerste optreden op een boekenmarkt: Hobbithunter Bookshop met een fraaie collectie van veel boeken van en over Tolkien.

Komt allen en weest welkom aan mijn kraam.

First print of Portugese Hobbit!

Today one of the first translations of The Hobbit arrived: the Portugese translation 1962. Although not 100% in perfect condition, I am glad to welcome this Hobbit.

Thanks to Paulo Jorge S.P. from Portugal. He saw my profile on www.tolkienlibrary.com and was so good to sell me his second 1962 copy. Paulo, thank you!

New Italian Hobbit

Italian Hobbit # 15. Almost the same as # 12, but with another Bompiani logo (and a slightly different ISBN-number 7 at the end instead of 6).
Bought in Rome (summer of 2009) by Gerrit M. and Ellen van D. and given to me as a birthday present. Thanks!

Thanks to Matthew G. there is a new English Hobbit. New? No, another edition, this time the Ted Smart edition of the graphic novel.
